Differentiates Acquirer Credit Card Company

As you know each credit card company such Visa, Amex, Discover or MasterCard has own responsible for manage their brand. So what differentiates acquirers from them? Basically, acquirers fall into two categories:

For those company that manage the all of acquiring functions such as customer services, underwriting, chargeback and also retrievals

For those company that have limited resources.

According to the Independent Sales Organization – ISO Guide to working with Acquirer, published by MasterCard, the ISO must address the fundamental issue of which party has primary control and ownership of the merchant relationship. The long term goal of many ISO is to become large enough to negotiate portfolio ownership.

Notwithstanding the independent sales organization’s portfolio ownership, the acquirer must maintain adequate day by day control over program management to comply with MasterCard rules its risk effectively.
